Hi! We’re Liset and Kevin, and a few years ago, our little adventurers, Lovi and Quinn, joined the journey. Travel is our greatest passion, and sharing it with our kids has made it even more magical. Together, we explore and create our own “Itsy Bitsy Paradise”—finding those hidden spots of beauty, adventure, and calm wherever we go.
With each trip, watching them grow and explore the natural world we love has been an incredible journey in itself. Sure, there are challenges, but with our “where there’s a will, there’s a road” mindset, we found our way—and we’re excited to share it with you!
Our story began with just a backpack and a budget, exploring raw, natural places across Asia. We loved the thrill of discovering new places but quickly realized we were always relying on local transportation, negotiating our way to find safe, affordable food and accommodation. Coming from the Netherlands, we had plenty of practice with haggling, but this style of travel left us craving something more independent.
So, we took the next step: traveling with our own transport, mostly rentals. With that, our days of chasing down transport were over. But finding great, affordable accommodations was still a challenge, especially in places like the U.S. We spent ages searching for motels that felt worth it—good vibes, beautiful views, and all at a reasonable price (harder than you might think!). Then it hit us: nature itself was the best accommodation, and it was free! From that point on, our travels took us off-the-beaten-path, into places where we could park up for the night, like that first remote Caribbean beach in Costa Rica, where we completely fell in love with the freedom of overlanding.
For Liset, the joy lies in finding those hidden, off-the-beaten-path spots to be fully immersed in nature. For Kevin, it’s the adventure of getting there with everything we need—including a fridge full of cold drinks!
Now, with Lovi and Quinn by our side, we know this journey isn’t ending anytime soon. And, honestly, it’s even more beautiful than we ever imagined. Being together in the most incredible places, doing what we love—it doesn’t get much better than this.
We started this blog to share more than just breathtaking destinations and travel guides. Like many other travel blogs, we’re here to highlight stunning spots around the world—but we also want to show that travel with young children is entirely possible and incredibly rewarding. Our goal is to inspire others to dive into the world of overlanding and independent travel, where the journey is yours to shape and isn’t confined to commercial tours, pre-planned itineraries or expensive accommodations.
